It began with the wind howling across the face of Ansalon, swirling about the landscape to leave no place untouched no corner unnoticed.  And in the wind the voice carried to all people and races, regardless of their allegiance or path.  For the wind bore the purpose of Morgion and he would not be denied.

“Return to me, my true love.  Return to me, my Evanjeline.”

The whisper began, echoing in the ears of all people.

“I will send unto you three signs of my wrath, and if my Evanjeline is not returned by then, I will release the Breath.  Know this as truth.”

And the wind continued to howl the rest of the night, until the first sparks of dawn drove it to silence and all was still once more.  But even so, Morgion's Gambit had begun.

To my Esteemed Colleagues in Magic:

I spied a strange phenomenon earlier this day towards the falling of the sun. A voice carried on the winds and whispered about an ominous doom. Three signs, it said. Three signs will the world see before this entity unleashes its "breath." With the return of its Beloved, Evanjeline, it will bestow some mysterious gift. If she is hidden, I can only guess that we shall witness some impending danger.

I shall report further with any developments I find.

Dutifully,

Some say it was a wizard that first heard the whisper, others claim that all heard the voice on the wind at the same time.

And so it was a letter from that wizard that the High Mage of Waywreth, Lady Helene, did speak to all the magi of the Tower with the following:

Be not fooled by the claims of Morgion. What he seeks no longer exists. The woman he claims to have loved is departed and can never be returned again. He seeks to throw out a distraction to his misdeeds and lay blame upon others for what will come, do not fall prey to this.

The Tower sits in no danger of these divine games, thus each magus may choose freely which path they will follow in these times. Know this as truth, the school and the towers will be sealed against all agents of Morgion and his plague. Should you wish to partake in his challenge, know that you do so at your own path. Know also that any becoming ill will be unable to return to the Towers.

Choose well.

Yet Morgion was not the only power that held secrets long forgotten, and upon hearing the threat the clerics of Mishakal rallied together that they would be prepared to aid those people in need.

In doing so the clergy remembered a relic long forgotten from the Age of Dreams, a relic that was rumored to cure all disease and heal all injury.  A relic known as the 'Tears of Mishakal' that had been lost to time,  but there was hope might be found once again.

Morgion's agents however would learn of this relic, and word soon reached the Black Wind of those who would stand in his path. Realizing that if the Mishakalites should accomplish their goals and find the secrets of old his plan would be ruined, the Diseased God ordered his followers to strike.

The First Warning.

Corrupt druids set out from their hidden grounds across the land, seeking out important sources of water. Working together to complete a series of unholy rites, negative energies tainted the water supply and caused many streams to dry up. Those which remained in the aftermath of such spellcasting were polluted beyond use, as they siphoned off the life-force of anyone trying to drink.

A bitter battle ensued as Chislev's faithful rallied together to stop the dark druids and restore the landscape, and many lives were lost in the battle.

In the end Morgion's first warning was driven back that no harm could be done to others, but at great cost.

Angry at the failure, Morgion's followers sought to turn against the Mishakalites in their research, so that their plans could continue unhindered.

A priestess carrying word to the knights was assaulted and another bitter battle ensued in which the forces of Morgion and those who would oppose him clashed. In the end a single hint was given that would guide the others in their journey, but it was undertaken by strong and willing companions.

“Where Midnight dwelt on darken wings, of the city lost to time shall you find the first of these.”

Two of Mishakal's lost pages recovered and the location of the relic the Tears of Mishakal, was that much closer.
